Your privacy matters to us as much as the properties we represent. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect when you use this website, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

This website is operated by Christie’s International Real Estate Panama (“we”, “us”, “our”), a real estate brokerage with its office in Santa María, Panama City. We are an affiliate of the Christie’s International Real Estate network; each office is independently owned and operated.

We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website and through the enquiries, viewing requests and accounts you create here. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the data protection laws that apply in Panama.

Information we collect

Information you give us.

  • Your account — your first and last name, email address and password when you sign up, and, if you add them, your phone number and a profile photo.
  • Inquiries — the property you ask about, your message and your phone number.
  • Tour requests — the property, your preferred day and time, your phone number and any message.
  • Saved properties — the listings you add to your shortlist.
  • Contact form — the details and message you send us through the Contact page.

Information collected automatically.

  • Your IP address and the time of sign-in attempts, which we use to protect accounts against repeated or automated password guessing.
  • Standard technical information your browser sends, such as the browser type, device and the pages you visit, recorded in our hosting provider’s server logs.
  • Information stored by cookies and similar technologies, described in the Cookies section below.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive information such as government identification numbers, bank details or health information through this website.

How we use your information

  • To create and run your account, including your saved properties and the history of your inquiries and tour requests.
  • To answer your inquiries and to arrange, confirm, reschedule or cancel property viewings, including passing your request to the advisor responsible for the listing.
  • To send you the emails that go with those services: confirming your email address, resetting your password, confirming an inquiry or tour request, and telling you when its status changes.
  • To keep the website and your account secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and fix problems.
  • To understand which properties and pages are useful so we can improve the website and our listings.
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.

We only send marketing messages where you have agreed to receive them, and every such message lets you unsubscribe. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

  • Our team — the advisors and staff who handle your inquiry or viewing, including the advisor who represents the property.
  • Service providers who help us run the website, such as our hosting provider, our email delivery service and map providers. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • The Christie’s International Real Estate network — only when you ask us to introduce you to an affiliate elsewhere.
  • Professional advisers and authorities — our lawyers, accountants and insurers, and courts, regulators or law-enforcement bodies where the law requires it.
  • A buyer of our business — if our business is sold or reorganised, under the same protections described here.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage that the website needs to work:

  • Sign-in cookies keep you signed in to your account and protect your session. Without them you cannot use an account.
  • Browser storage remembers a property you saved, or a tour request you started, before signing in, so it can be completed once you have signed in. It stays on your device.

Property pages show maps from Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. When a map loads, your browser connects to that provider, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block sign-in cookies, you will not be able to use your account.

International transfers

Our service providers may store or process information outside Panama, including in the United States and Europe. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to the standard described in this policy.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and saved properties — for as long as your account is open.
  • Inquiries and tour requests — while your account is open, and afterwards only for as long as we need them for our business records or as the law requires.
  • Records of emails we have sent — 30 days.
  • Security information such as sign-in attempts — a short period, usually no more than a few hours.

When your account is deleted, your profile, saved properties, inquiries and tour requests are deleted with it.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong — you can update your name, phone number and photo yourself on your account’s Profile page;
  • ask us to delete your account and information;
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information;
  • withdraw your consent where we rely on it;
  • complain to a data-protection authority.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will reply within a reasonable time.

How we protect it

Passwords are stored in an encrypted (hashed) form that we cannot read. Access to client information is limited to the staff who need it, sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and the website is served over an encrypted connection. No website can be completely secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the website.
